TV SPOTS
OTTAWA UNIVERSITY
For Ottawa University, it was time to go big. The school was increasing its enrollment push for adult students and requested a pair of TV spots to spread the word and encourage potential enrollees to “Prepare for a Life of Significance.”
We developed two high-energy, aspirational spots that contrasted the ho-hum of everyday life with the exciting possibilities a degree from Ottawa could create. The first spot aired in the Kansas City market during a pivotal Sunday Night Football matchup between the Chiefs (9-0) and the Denver Broncos (8-1). The spot was a welcome addition to a broadcast that infuriated many Chiefs fans, with no defensive pressure on Peyton Manning and a disappointing offensive performance. But I digress.
In addition to writing the TV spots, I also helped rework Ottawa’s course brochures and campus posters—a tall task, considering the school’s wealth of academic programs. We set out to make these materials more conversational and easy to navigate, as previous versions were dry and overwhelming.
